The Giralda

This is the very symbol of Seville, officially recognised as a Human World Heritage by Unesco, together with the Cathedral. Originally the minaret of the old mosque during the Islamic period of the city, the bell-tower was raised in the XII century, and was repeatedly modified until it gained the current aspect. The tower was named after the Giraldillo, the big bronze statue representing Faith which is placed on top of the tower self  as a pennant. The Giralda is almost 100 m tall, and can be accessed through 34 flight of stairs which lead to the bell cell. From here the amazing view opens on the city and all around.
