The Golden Tower in Seville

Lying on the banks of river Guadalquivir, on Paseo de Cristobal Colon, the Golden Tower was originally covered with golden azulejos. The building dates back to the XIII century. It was raised by the Jewish, who used it as a watching point to control the access to the city by the river. In fact the river could be closed at anytime by means of chains located in the two opposite towers situated on the banks. Currently the tower hosts inside a small naval museum, with information and models illustrating the characteristics and evolution of the old naval means.
